If I had to choose, I'd pick easy going. Assholes are less likely to do well since they end up burning their connections over time. Nobody wants to work with an asshole.
That being said, don't get pushed around by them.
Looking For: Just checking it out.

I acknowledge the duality of existence. The universe is both beautiful and destructive in nature. I believe that we have similar characteristics, and that it can be beneficial to exercise both extremes in order to navigate life. I personally prefer to live somewhere in the middle though.

Neither. In life it is best to live to your true nature, we cannot be something we are not. This question implies that either being an asshole or easy going is better. We all get to make that decision for ourselves, and then chose who we associate with. I am very much on the easy going spectrum, but I largely believe that is dictated by personality type.

Never an asshole, you can still get things done and push without being an asshole. Easy going is really good in certain situations, but if used chronically it can become you lying to yourself about the path you are on.

In life, is it better to be an asshole or easy going?
Better to be easy going based on your use of profanity. And you have not defined A-hole. But I suppose this is some sort of psychological test to see if I am willing to be unpopular. Well, duh, if an action of mine will save the lives of my customers and my employees, then obviously I will risk being unpopular to save them and avoid negligence lawsuits. Whistle blowers save lives but never win popularity contests. The hilarious part of this is that this whole question is moot since, as founder, I will pick management team but won't be on the team.

If I had to choose one, easy going. I tend to believe there's a higher ROI on not being an asshole. And, no one wants to work with an asshole.

Both. I prefer to be easy going. However there are assholes in this world. Dealing with them passively leads to a sort of social subordination. Avoiding them completely is often undo-able, or a form of hiding. I don't like flipping out into a completely different person depending on who I'm dealing with so being an asshole so I can deal with assholes is within my range. And so, unfortunately, I perpetuate the cycle of easy going people learning they need to be mean sometimes.

Easy going, but of course this does have drawbacks if your peers don't respect you. If you have built trust and respect in your team/life, you can get work done without having to bring down the hammer and be the "asshole."

In life, is it better to be an asshole or easy going?
Both
I am a very easy going person, I absolutely love life and enjoy the company of people. I truly enjoy joking around and having fun. However there is a time, more often in a work environment that seriousness needs to be applied to get a job done.
I would never say asshole as a correct term, but I am firm in my commitments and I expect the same in return.
I always have given people choices and consequences. The decision is always their's to make. I just enforce it.
If you judge that as an asshole, then I am guilty.
In life, is it better to be an asshole or easy going?
In general, easy going, but that doesn't mean being passive about where you want to go in life and how to get there.

In life, is it better to be an asshole or easy going?
As a female in computer science, I have been easy going. I would let people walk over me with their ego and I would take the bullet of insecurity. I have learned time and time again this is how you lose respect. It is important to maintain a balance of both as there are severe consequences when the scale begins to tip.
Confidence is key, however, it takes a little asshole to be that confident jerk that everyone is secretly jealous of, and it takes a little bit of easy goingness to be that person everyone goes to for a smile.

Easy going, for sure. I'm always worried I'm being too much of an asshole trying to hustle to get things done but I think if people feel appreciated, there's really no harm in creating a sense of urgency.
