I'm looking for a young company with an awesome team to join!
I have a curious brain that is constantly stimulating a voracious appetite for knowledge and data, which comes handy when assessing business prospects from a structural point of view.
Solving customer needs in a smart way!
Problem solver, critical thinker, business background (MBA), engineer by trade, team member, family oriented, opportunity-driven, profit-seeking mindset.
In the process of selling my coffee subscription (CEO and Co-Founder) business for a 3X revenue multiple. Also, just finished a Data Analytics certificate program at Cornell University.
Born and raised in Colombia (South America), I went to a K-12 German school. I have played several sports during my life, a couple of them competitively, but golf has been a passion of mine since childhood. It evolved into a sort of therapy for me. I got an engineering (industrial) degree from Universidad de Los Andes (top 10 in LatAm), after I lived and worked in Germany for almost two years,. I have worked for both big multinational companies as well as small businesses and I tend to prefer small, young companies where the thrill of action and impact is most rewarding.
Currently working at a startup that surveys Oil & Gas assets with spectrometry equipment mounted on drones and pickup trucks measuring methane concentrations, processing the data, and providing business intelligence on it.

Question
Given the difficulties of true communication between two humans, to what extent can you really know another person?
Nicolás's Answer
In my personal experience, unfortunately it is difficult to really get to know people. If you know people from an early age or you have gone through a tough time/situation with them you have a way better chance of having the full picture. Otherwise, your instincts will be your best guide.
Think you have wisdom or insight, sign in or join to answer the question too.

Given the difficulties of true communication between two humans, to what extent can you really know another person?
We tend to see what we want to see in others, which ultimately leads to disappointment when reality manifests itself differently then our expectations. The only way we can really know someone else is through what actions they have done. In truth, this does not tell you actually who they are but who they were. If it was a one-time action, then it's possible that said person may not return to their former self. However, if said person has proven over and over again that they are capable of doing certain actions, then you can at least know another person to the extent of reliability in those past actions.

You can only know someone as much as they trust you. Trust is so difficult to earn and so easy to lose. You may never know a person completely.
Looking For: Investors, co-founder/s maybe, developers, coders, interesting people.

Only the Biblical type of "know" as in carnal knowledge. And even that is, as we see with divorce statistics, worthless. Only identical twins can claim true communication that is more than that of old married couples finishing each others' sentences. Is there some reason why these questions are so philosophical? Do you want an answer more suited to epistemology? Or to neuroscience? If so, inquire within but have your checkbook out because I don't think for free.

Given the difficulties of true communication between two humans, to what extent can you really know another person?
This is not something I honestly worry about. I assume that every person has a private, mental life I will never have full access to. I do my best to be of service, to listen and understand as well as I can, and to trust that others are doing the same.

You have to trust them to tell you what they are about and be patient and know we are all figuring out and testing who we are constantly. Just because someone says x doesn't mean they believe it, they might just be trying it. Just love them for who they are and who they might become, then you really know them.

You can never 100% predict how another person will react, but the longer you know someone, the better you will get at it This depends on the person though, because some people grow and change much more than others, therefore are much harder to predict.

Only to the extent you are willing to trust. Communication must be open and honest. Thoughts must be expressed and if not agreed with, at least respected. The relationship between two people is always an ongoing process. Troubles always show themselves when communication stops.

Given the difficulties of true communication between two humans, to what extent can you really know another person?
People judge, even when they say they don't. That word judge makes it sound negative. It's logical, there's first impressions, and impressions made in follow up meetings. So at what point do you know them, can you ever really know them? I think you can know a person enough to the point where you can create a range of expected behaviors, and that person will rarely act outside the range in your head. The more often your idea of that person matches up with reality, the more you will feel like you know them.
